Bocchi the Rock! Gaiden: Hiroi Kikuri no Fukazake Nikki (ぼっち・ざ・ろっく！外伝 廣井きくりの深酒日記 Bocchi za Rokku! Gaiden: Hiroi Kikuri no Fukazake Nikki, "Bocchi the Rock! Side Story: Kikuri Hiroi’s Heavy-Drinking Diary") is a Japanese manga series written by Aki Hamazi and drawn by kumichou. It is a spin-off manga of Bocchi the Rock! centered around Kikuri Hiroi. It began serialization on COMIC FUZ website on July 9, 2023.
The English version of the series has been licensed by Yen Press in their pre-panel New York Comic Con announcement on October 19, 2024.[1]
Plot[]
Kikuri Hiroi, 25 years old, riddled with debt, values alcohol and bass more than life itself while living in a 52-year-old no-bathroom apartment with shady incidents. This is her story.[2]
Chapters[]
Two chapters are released individually on COMIC FUZ website biweekly, with one being a regular release and another being an "advance release." Advance-release chapters can be read two weeks earlier before their official release date with a payment on the site.
Additionally, starting after Chapter 8, x.5 chapters is introduced in the gap weeks of the chapter releases, which contains single-page epilogue of the current chapters (per regular release schedule).

A talented psychedelic rock band based on Shinjuku's live house FOLT. The surnames of the band members are derived from the members of 88Kasyo Junrei. The members had matched instrumental roles as well.
- Kikuri Hiroi (廣井 きくり Hiroi Kikuri)
- The bass and vocals of the band. Liked booze a lot that her sanity depended on, and she caused a lot of trouble to people around her with her behavior on-stage and off-stage.
- Eliza Shimizu (清水 イライザ Shimizu Iraiza)
- The guitar of the band. She is interested in manga and anime and wants to be an anime song cover rather than rock, but somehow got pulled into the band.
- Shima Iwashita (岩下 志麻 Iwashita Shima)
- The drummer of the band. She is called "Shima-sama" by the audience, and her good androgynous look makes people feel good dealing with her.
SIDEROS[]
A band that is also based in Shinjuku FOLT, the same live house where SICK HACK is based.
- Yoyoko Ohtsuki (大槻 ヨヨコ Ōtsuki Yoyoko)
- The guitar and vocals of the band. She admires Hiroi and always calls her "Nee-san" in the same live house.
- Akubi Hasegawa (長谷川 あくび Hasegawa Akubi)
- The drummer of the band. She refers to Ohtsuki as "Senpai" and adds "(suffix)-ssu" at the end of her sentences.
- Fuko Honjo (本城 楓子 Honjō Fūko)
- The second guitar of the band. Ohtsuki called her "Senpai" and Hasegawa calls "Ha-chan" or "Fu-chan".
- Yuyu Uchida (内田 幽々 Uchida Yuyu)
- The bass of the band. She has many gothic lolita clothes, she also has an occult hobby.
Kessoku Band[]
The band that is based in Shimokitazawa STARRY.
- Hitori Gotoh (後藤 ひとり Gotō Hitori)
- A gloomy person, who plays the lead guitar and lyrics in the band. Kikuri met her accidentally when she was drunk in Kanazawa-Hakkei.
- Nijika Ijichi (伊地知 虹夏 Ijichi Nijika)
- Seika's sister. Drummer of the band.
- Ryo Yamada (山田 リョウ Yamada Ryō)
- Bassist of the band.
- Ikuyo Kita (喜多 郁代 Kita Ikuyo)
- Vocalist of the band. She is the most socially active in the band to the point she manages the band's social media accounts.

- Ginjiro Yoshida (吉田 銀次郎 Yoshida Ginjirō)
- He is the manager of the live house, FOLT. He speaks in feminine language.
- Seika Ijichi (伊地知 星歌 Ijichi Seika)
- She is the manager of the live house, STARRY. Kikuri is very close to her to the point she borrows her shower.
- PA-san
- Sound engineer of STARRY. Also a part-time VTuber under the name Alto Otogi.
Trivia[]
- The series timeline starts around the same year when the main series starts, where Kikuri's age is confirmed to be 25, and Seika is confirmed to be 29. To be specific, it starts right before chapter 10 of the main series.[3]
- Seika celebrates her thirtieth birthday in chapter 29 of the main series during Christmas, while Kikuri's birthday is in September.
- The manga is not presented in 4-koma style unlike the main series, but in a conventional manga panels. The pages for each chapter is also twice as long as the main series, averaging between 20 to 24 pages each chapter.
- The volume release of the series also has it released in A6 format rather than the usual A5 format of the main series and anthology, hence they are relatively smaller than other manga volumes of the title. The volume is also thicker as they contain more pages than other series (averaging around 180 pages)
